The robot driver (7) has a chassis with a driving motor for propelling drive wheels, a video camera (10), a sensor and an actuator. The power supply and signal feed and discharge take place in wire-bound manner over a connecting cable. The connecting cable is formed as two-wire cable (6) and the data communication from the robot driver to an inspection vehicle (3) takes place over a modem connection.
