The present invention is directed to a solar cell system comprising a solar cell the light-receiving surface of which is provided with a transparent encapsulant foil comprising a reinforcing layer and two barrier layers, wherein the first barrier layer is positioned above the reinforcing layer and the second barrier is positioned below the reinforcing layer, determined from the light-receiving side of the solar cell system. The encapsulant foil itself, a process for manufacture thereof, and a process for manufacturing the solar cell system are also claimed.
