An adjustable leg 12 for a device (e.g. a seat 10,Fig.1) includes first and second leg portions 14,16 telescopically received relative to one another. The second leg portion has multiple adjustment holes 24. An externally located lever 48 is supported relative to the first leg portion. The lever cooperates with a detent (34, Fig.4) received in one of the adjustment holes in a latched position (Fig.4) in which the first and second leg portions are fixed relative to one another. The lever includes a depression 56 spaced from the detent that is rotatable about a pivot from the latch position to an unlatched position (Fig.5) in which the detent is disposed outside one of the adjustment holes. In the unlatched position, movement of the first and second legs in an axial direction relative to one another is permitted. The leg may be used in walkers, safety chairs, transfer benches and other medical assistance devices. |
