[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A ribbon cable for multipling selectors is formed by first drawing insulated wires off spools 10 through guiding combs 17 to 19 and 20 to 22, Fig. 2, and moving one comb relatively to the other so as to form a rhomboidal portion to which two pieces of fabric 27, 28, Fig. 5, are then stuck. Rectangular strips 32 are stuck to the rectangular portion formed by the guide combs. Other sections are made in the same way and finally the ribbon is folded as shown in Fig. 9 so that rectangular portions, e.g. 36, 37 of adjacent sections, are superimposed and so that the two parts of each rhomboidal portion overlap as shown in Fig. 1 and provide the main portion of the cable. A row of multipled switch banks can be built up by superimposing rows of previously multipled levels. |
