A cosmetic composition for skin whitening, which contains Oldenfandia diffusa Roxburgh extract and Rheum undulatum extract is provided to suppress the formation of melanocyte and prevent pigmentation. A cosmetic composition for skin whitening comprises 0.001~10 weight% of Oldenfandia diffusa Roxburgh extract and 0.001~5.0 weight% of Rheum undulatum as active ingredients. A method for obtaining the Oldenfandia diffusa Roxburgh extract comprises a step of adding 60-80‹C of purified water to wash for 10-20 minutes; a step of adding 80~85‹C of purified water to extract the Oldenfandia diffusa Roxburgh; and a step of cooling the extract to 20-30‹C, filtering and removing solid portion. The cosmetic composition is used in the form of skin softener, emulsion, massage cream, nutrition cream, pack, patch, gel, stick, and spray.
