A system and a method for transmitting a mail are provided to terminate connection with a receiving client terminal and automatically transmit a new mail collected from an external mail server when requesting a new mail, thereby preventing timeout of a client terminal. A mail server(110) transmits a connection termination message to a receiving client terminal corresponding to new mail request information received from a receiver client terminal(140) and terminates connection with the receiving client terminal. A push server(120) receives new mail collection completion information from the mail server and transmits a new mail arrival informational message to the receiving client terminal.
