<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print an image of stable density by using an image forming apparatus which uses a two-component developer and replenishes toner consumed for printing. <P>SOLUTION: Toner consumption is estimated for every page according to the characteristic information of an image to be printed, and toner corresponding thereto is replenished into a developing unit after the page is printed. Here, the amount of replenishment per unit time is varied according to the estimated amount of toner consumption so that the replenishment time of the toner matches a previously set constant time.
