An apparatus and a method for eliminating interference in a multi-user multiple input multiple output wireless communication system are provided to select users which eliminate cell interference by using INCM of a user terminal inside a cell. A user selecting unit(200) receives interference signal information from terminals and calculates INCM(Interference plus Noise Covariance Matrix) indexes of all terminals to select a group of terminals for performing an interference eliminating process. The user selecting unit includes an INCM index calculating unit(202) and an INCM comparing unit(204).
