A recording medium, a method and an apparatus for recording data are provided to reduce the manufacturing cost of recording media by preliminarily recording a part of the lead-in area. A recording medium comprises a data area in which data is recorded, a lead-in area which is located in the inner periphery of the data area, and a lead-out area which is located in the outer periphery of the data area and includes information indicating the prerecorded state in a part of the lead-in area.
