PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the possibility of friction of a head etc. caused by warping occuring in an unused recording material before implementation of recording, in a recording device for performing recording on a recording face of the recording material. SOLUTION: A thin plate-shaped first nipping plate 73 having a flat face is arranged in a bottom part of a recording paper storage chamber 71. A thin plate-shaped second nipping plate 74 also having a flat face is arranged on the back side of an opening/closing lid 12. Press springs 75 are arranged between the back face of the opening/closing lid 12 and the second nipping plate 74. Recording paper P stacked on the first nipping plate 73 is sandwiched between the first nipping plate 73 and the second nipping plate 74 by closing the opening/closing lid 12, so as to become a state pressed against the flat faces. A main substrate 91 mounted with a control circuit of an ink jet printer 50 is arranged immediately below the first nipping plate 73. Heat released from the main substrate 91 is transmitted to the first nipping plate 73, and then the transmitted heat is transmitted to the recording paper P to heat it.
