PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable using image data reproduced from a recording medium as well as image data, such as broadcast, in the same decoder. SOLUTION: The image data read from the recording medium 1 is stored in a memory means 6. A memory control circuit 7 makes a part in the image data (pack header) read. A pack header analysis circuit 9 extracts reproducing clock information and bit rate information included in the read part. A comparator 10 compares the reproducing clock information with a reference clock generated by a reference clock generator 11, and outputs the result to the memory control circuit 7. The memory control circuit 7 controls reading of data from memory 6 based on the comparison result and the bit rate information. On the other hand, a transmission packet generating means 8 packetizes the read image data, and then outputs it to a bus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
