PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a lighting direction at low cost with simple constitution. SOLUTION: A lighting adapter 32 includes a projection portion 32b for engagement, and elastically deforms to engage a groove portion 31a for engagement provided in a ring lighting device 31 in a snap-fit manner. Then when a user rotates the lighting adapter 32 on its center Z axis as an axis of rotation, an opening portion 32A also moves corresponding to the rotating operation, so that illumination light from a lighting unit 41 includes its lighting direction changed according to the rotational position of the opening portion 32A. Consequently, the lighting direction can be changed at low cost with the simple constitution. The present invention is applicable to a microscope using the ring lighting device.
