INFORMATION SEARCH AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information search and retrieval system capable of quickly comparing a relatively large amount of information.

SOLUTION: An image processing system includes a retrieval engine 36, an image analyzer 38 coupled to the retrieval engine 36 to compare first and second images provided from the retrieval engine, and one or more feature modules 30 coupled to one of the retrieval engine and image analyzer to respectively provide the image analyzer with information unique to specific applications. Each of one or more feature modules specifies at least one specific region of an image and at least one specific measurement on pixels in at least one specific image region. The system further includes a storage device coupled to the retrieval engine, the image analyzer and one of feature modules and storing at least one image.
