<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress giving incompatible feeling that traveling speed is not kept at target speed to an occupant immediately after switching on a set switch, in a cruise control device. <P>SOLUTION: The traveling control device of a vehicle includes a vehicle speed sensor 6 detecting the traveling speed of the vehicle; a target speed setting portion 15a setting the traveling speed at switching-on operation detected by the vehicle speed sensor 6 as the target speed of the vehicle when the set switch 3d is switched on during traveling of the vehicle; and an acceleration/deceleration controlling portion 15b accelerating/decelerating the vehicle so as to keep the traveling speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor 6 at the target speed. The traveling control device of the vehicle is also provided with a speed meter 11 indicating the traveling speed of the vehicle, and a speed display controlling portion 17a controlling the speed meter 11.
