PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera whose housing can be put so that an image on a display is easy to view without using a stand. SOLUTION: The camera includes the housing 1, a lens barrel 2 arranged on the front of the housing 1, a lens barrel driving circuit to drive the lens barrel 2, a control circuit to control operation of the lens barrel driving circuit, and the display 9 arranged on the back of the housing 1. The control circuit controls the lens barrel driving circuit to extend the lens barrel 2 from the front of the housing 1 in response to specified user's operation to view the image displayed on the display 9. The extending amount of the lens barrel 2 is set to an amount enough to put the housing 1 so that the bottom part of the housing 1 and the leading end of the lens barrel 2 are grounded.
