PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus which suppresses movement of liquid receptive particles on an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: A humidifier 22 connected with a fixing device 40 is arranged on the downstream side of a particle supplying device 16. A highly humid air discharged by the fixing device 40 is supplied to a particle layer 20 on the intermediate transfer body 12. A relative humidity of the air in the periphery of the particle layer 20 on the intermediate transfer body 12 becomes high, whereby moisture absorption of particles 18 is accelerated. Surfaces of the particles 18 melt, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive force is generated to the particles 18. A cohesion among particles becomes high, so that movement of the particles 18 on the intermediate transfer body 12 is suppressed. Movement and scattering of the particles 18 caused by an energy in striking of liquid droplets by an inkjet recording head 26 and during infiltration are thus suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
