PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which permits an automatic dust collector to be immediately operated after cleaning ends and a power switch is turned off. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner immediately operates the dust collector 24 in response to the turning off of the power switch 35. At that time, the cleaner turns off a solenoid 22 and closes a communication hole 20 by an opening and closing lid 21 to reduce the suction force of an electric blower 3 linked with the operation of the dust collector 24. Even if the dust collector 24 is operated simultaneously with the turning off of the power switch 35, it can perform good automatic dusting in a prescribed time without being hindered by the suction force.
