PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste straw cutting apparatus having a change cover opening and closing mechanism of simple structure. SOLUTION: In the waste straw cutting apparatus 20 of a combine harvester, which includes the change cover 31 at the waste straw inlet opening 21b of the waste straw cutting apparatus 20 and is changed to supply waste straw to the waste straw cutting apparatus 20 or not by opening and closing the change cover 31 by the change cover opening and closing mechanism 30, the change cover opening and closing mechanism 30 includes a rotatable fulcrum shaft 32 fixed on the rear part of the change cover 31, a rotary arm 33 fixed on one side of the fulcrum shaft 32 , an urging spring 36 having one end latched to the rotary arm 33, a buffer spring 37 having one end latched to the rotary arm 33, a connection wire 38 having one end connected to the other end of the buffer spring 37 and an operation tool 39 connected to the other end of the connection wire 38. The change cover 31 is urged through the rotary arm 33 in a direction to open the waste straw inlet opening by the urging spring 36 and urged also in a direction to close the waste straw inlet opening by the buffer spring 37.
