PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission including a low gear transmission pulley set having high output rigidity at low rotation speed. SOLUTION: A low gear transmission pulley set 102 having a fixed speed ratio which allows the transmission in the same rotating direction is installed between an input shaft 101 and an output shaft 103 of a continuously variable transmission 100. In addition, an unidirectional transmission device 111 can be arranged therebetween. If a decelerating continuously variable transmission is employed and actuated at a maximum deceleration ratio or in a state near the maximum deceleration ratio, or if an accelerating continuously variable transmission is employed and actuated at a minimum deceleration ratio or in a state near the minimum deceleration ratio, and when the rotational speed of a driving pulley in the low gear transmission pulley set 102 is lower than that of the input shaft in the same rotating direction under heavy load, the rotating kinetic energy of the input shaft is transmitted through the unidirectional transmission device 111 and the low gear transmission pulley set 102 to drive the output shaft 103 and further a load.
