The method involves forming a cooling channel (13) between heating oil channels (10, 11) and a support (2) at an axle (3) for a thermal roller. Oil is supplied as a cooling medium to the cooling channel, where the oil is provided for cooling a rotatable connecting piece (4), which is used for the supply of used oil given for heating. The oil is derived from the cooling channel at the axle at an opposite side. The cooling channel is isolated against the oil provided for heating. The oil is collected by the surface of the axle. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling heating of bearings for heatable rollers, which are used in a paper industry.
