The method involves collecting actual operating conditions or situations of a driver assistance system reflecting statistical data over the time. The statistical data is evaluated. The system parameter of a driver assistance system or a system parameter of a subsystem of a driver assistance system is adjusted in dependence of a result of an evaluation (1). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a driver assistance system for supporting a driver of a vehicle in road traffic for executing the method; and (2) a computer program product stored on a computer-readable medium.
