PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing material for air filters, which is low in pressure loss, has apertures and gas permeability in good uniformity, and has high stiffness and strong water wet resistance. SOLUTION: Provided is the reinforcing material for the air filters, characterized by impregnating an air-laid web (A) with a water-soluble resin (B). Especially, the air-laid web (A) is formed from 5-90 wt% of vinylon fibers, 0 to 50 wt% of thermally fusible fibers, 0 to 50 wt% of polyester fibers and 0 to 30 wt% of pulp by an air-laid method. The water-soluble resin (B) is a resin selected from acrylic resins, styrene-acrylic acid copolymers, styrene-maleic acid copolymers, polyvinyl alcohol-based resins, urethane-based resins and epoxy resins, and having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of≥30°C.
