PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a photoelectric conversion element which includes an organic dye which shows high photoelectric conversion efficiency, low dark current, and high-speed responsivity; a solid-state image sensor; and an optical sensor. SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element includes a photoelectric conversion part which includes a pair of electrodes, and a photoelectric conversion layer provided between a pair of the electrodes. The photoelectric conversion layer has a photoelectric conversion thin film which contains a compound expressed by a general formula (1), wherein Z<SB>1</SB>represents group of atoms which form nitrogen-containing heterocycle of 5- or 6-members; R<SB>1</SB>represents hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocycle group; R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>represent hydrogen atom, the alkyl group, the alkenyl group, a monocyclic aryl group, or a monocyclic heterocycle group, or R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>may join together and form ring; L<SB>11</SB>to L<SB>14</SB>represent a methine group; p1 represents 0 or 1; and n1 represents an integer of 1 to 4.
