PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation converter which is excellent in portability and makes it possible to quickly acquire and confirm necessary image information without being affected by radio waves, and a radiation image capturing system. SOLUTION: An electronic cassette 28 includes a case body, a radiation detector 44 housed inside the case body for detecting a radiation emitted from a radiation source and transmitted through an object and converting it to radiation image information Da, a cassette control part 50, an infrared communication part 200, a first interface 202 and a second interface 204. The cassette control part 50 is provided with a data compression circuit 214 for data-compressing the radiation image information Da and attaining compressed radiation image information Db. The infrared communication part 200 turns the compressed radiation image information Db to infrared signals Lb and outputs them according to a transmission request from the outside.
