KNEE AIRBAG DEVICE MOUNTED ON COLUMN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the interference of the attachment of a key inserted into a key lock device with a knee airbag during the deployment utilizing the deployment force of the knee airbag when the knee airbag is deployed in a knee airbag device mounted on a column.

SOLUTION: This knee airbag device comprises a pin 16 (load transmission means) for displacing the key lock device 30 to the upper side of a vehicle by transmitting the deployment force of the knee airbag 52 to the key lock device 30 installed on the side of the steering column 12 when the knee airbag 52 is deployed. Since the deployment force is transmitted to the key lock device 30 through the pin 16 when the knee airbag 52 is deployed, the key lock device 30 is displaced to the upper side of the vehicle. Consequently, the attachment (sub key 70) inserted into the key lock device 30 is retreated to the upper side of the vehicle.
