PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sheet feeder with a small moving amount of a loading plate regardless of a sheet residual amount with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder fees sheets loaded on a swingable loading plate 22 one by one by rotation of a paper feed roller 25. The device comprises moving means 40 for swinging the loading plate 22 downward by a constant distance D2 in connection with rotation of the paper feed roller 25. The moving means 40 comprises a cam 41 installed coaxially with the paper feed roller 25, a rack 41 moving upward and downward in connection with rotation of the cam 42, a first gear wheel 43 mounted integrally with the loading plate 22, and a gear wheel train 44 connecting the rack 42 and the first gear wheel 43. When the rack 42 is at a top dead center, the rack 42 is separated from the gear wheel train 44. When the rack 42 is pressed down, the rack 42 is interlocked with the gear wheel train 44, the loading plate 22 is swung downward by the constant distance D2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
