PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device which can enhance handleability of a spray gun during coating operation and ensure successful application of a coating material even in case it is of high viscosity. SOLUTION: This coating device 1 comprises the following components: a spray gun 2 for jetting a coating material, air piping 7 for supplying compressed air it, a coating material container 18 mounted on it, a coating material tank 50 for storing the coating material, and coating material supply piping 48 and coating material return piping 49 connected with the coating material container 18 in such a state that one end side of the piping are connected with the coating material tank 50 and the other end side can be removed. In the coating device 1 in which the coating material can be replenished to the interior of the coating material container 18 from the coating material tank 50 in such a state that the coating material supply piping 48 and the coating material return piping 49 are connected with the coating material container 18, an air introduction pipe 28 is provided for introducing pressurizing air into it. Besides, the air introduction pipe 28 is equipped with a valve part (a check valve 30) which opens when the pressurizing air is supplied into the air introduction pipe 28 and closes when the coating material is replenished into the coating material container 18.
