<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector of the pupil which enables a driver to know that there is the possibility of an error or erroneous determination of a good pupil image is not obtained. <P>SOLUTION: In the position detector of the pupil, a camera unit 1 is equipped with an error processing circuit 13 for detecting the abnormality of the camera unit 1 and an LED lighting timing control circuit 14 of forming an abnormal image showing the occurrence of abnormality in a taken image without producing an effect on the positional detection of the pupil when the abnormality is detected by the error processing circuit 13.
