PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design support device and method for general-purpose components for a vehicle for improving operation efficiency, and for suppressing any operation mistake when plotting the mounting layout of general-purpose components for a vehicle on a panel. SOLUTION: This design support device for the general-purpose components for a vehicle includes: a control part; an input part; a display part; and a storage part, wherein information related to the panel and information related to general-purpose components is stored in the storage part. Then, when the panel is selected, the control part reads data related to the hole sections of the panel stored in the storage part, and specifies the general-purpose components to be mounted on the hole sections, and performs positioning processing of the general-purpose component and the corresponding hole sections. When the positioning processing of the general-purpose components in all the hole sections ends, the mounting layout of the general-purpose components on the panel is acquired.
