PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coupling for upper frames in a protective material for lawn or the like for superimposing the frames into a multilayer state. SOLUTION: The coupling tool for upper frames in a protective material for lawn or the like for superimposing the frames into a multilayer state is composed of a base frame touching to the ground and an upper frame comprising one frame or a plurality of frames: wherein the base frame has coupling parts capable of being coupled to one another at the right, left, front and back sides; and the upper frames each has a coupling part coupled to the base frame and coupling parts through which the upper frames are longitudinally coupled to one another, but has no coupling part for coupling the upper frames to one another at the right, left, front and back sides. The coupling tool has a right-and-left pair of a first engaging part engaged with the upper part of the upper frame, and a second engaging part engaged with the lower part of the upper frame.
