摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply device capable of preventing overheat of a catalyst and avoiding excessive drop of catalyst temperature by appropriately controlling fuel increase quantity for preventing overheat of a catalyst in a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This fuel supply device is applied to an engine 10 provided with a compression ratio change mechanism changing a mechanical compression ratio and the catalyst 33 in an exhaust gas passage. This fuel supply device increases fuel supply quantity according to catalyst overheat prevention increase quantity value KOTP to prevent overheat of the catalyst when load KL and engine rotation speed NE satisfy prescribed catalyst overheat prevention operation conditions. Exhaust gas temperature drops when the set mechanical compression ratio is high, since combustion efficiency is higher than that in a case of low compression ratio. As a result, temperature of the catalyst also drops. Consequently, the fuel supply device keeps the catalyst overheat prevention increase quantity value KOTP smaller as mechanical compression ratio is higher. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
