#CMT# #/CMT# A cosmetic preparation (I) in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion with a water content of at least 60 wt.% containing at least 2 wt.% polyhydric alcohol, at least 10 wt.% fatty acid ester(s) and 0.1-2.0 wt.% colostrum (based on dry substance), plus conventional additives etc., in which 50% of the surface of the oil phase is in the form of droplets with a particle size of 1000 nm or less. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is included for a method for the production of (I) by heating a mixture of water, polyhydric alcohol and soluble additives etc. to not more than 75[deg] C, stirring an aqueous solution of colostrum into the aqueous phase, heating a mixture of fatty acid ester(s) and oil-soluble additives etc. to not more than 75[deg] C to form an oil phase, mixing the aqueous phase and the oil phase in a multi-chamber emulsifier fitted with stirrers in a continuous process, and allowing the emulsion to cool to room temperature with stirring. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# In products such as face creams and body lotions. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# A colostrum-containing preparation which ensures good distribution over the body surface when applied to the skin and also enables the rapid transfer of both hydrophilic and lipophilic active ingredients from preparation to skin and their absorption through the skin. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# Preferred Composition: An O/W emulsion (I) in which 50% of the surface of the oil phase is in droplets with a particle size of 800 nm or less, preferably 600 nm or less. The polyhydric alcohol is glycerol and the fatty esters are stearates and/or palmitates; the colostrum is bovine colostrum from the first and/or second milk after calving, preferably the first milk. (I) shows a pH value of 5-6 and may be in the form of a cream with a water content of more than 60 wt.% or a lotion with a water content of more than 75 wt.%. Preferred Method: The process is carried out at 25-50 (preferably about 40) [deg] C, using a continuous emulsifier with two mixing chambers in series, operating with a stirrer speed such that 50% of the surface of the oil phase is in droplets with a particle size of 1000 nm or less, preferably 600 nm or less. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# Face cream was produced by (a) thoroughly mixing 62 parts by weight (pts. wt.) water with 5 pts. wt. glycerol and 0.5 pt. wt. colostrum powder (added last), and heating to 40[deg] C with stirring, (b) mixing 17 pts. wt. fatty acid ester with 5 pts. wt. dimethicone, 5 pts. wt. fatty alcohol, 3 pts. wt. moisture regulator, 1 pt. wt. preservative and 1.5 pts. wt. pigments, perfume and other additives and heating to not above 75[deg] C with stirring, (c) continuously mixing the two phases from (a) and (b) in a Nanocon Emulsifier(RTM) with two mixing chambers in series (both fitted with stirrers), using a stirrer speed at which 50% of the surface of the oil phase was in droplets with a particle size of about 500 nm, and then (d) cooling to room temperature and filling into pots. |
