SECONDARY BATTERY CONTAINING JELLY-ROLL TYPED ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY

A secondary battery is provided to suppress vertical movement of a jelly-roll, to prevent the electrolyte leakage caused by damage and piston motion of the jelly-roll and to improve safety of the battery. A method for manufacturing a secondary battery(200) comprises the steps of: winding a positive electrode sheet and a negative electrode sheet where a separator is interposed, to prepare a jelly-roll(210); adhering a seal tape(230) on the outer surface including the wound end of the jelly-roll; inserting the jelly-roll inside the can(220) having the inside diameter which is identical to or larger than the outer diameter of the jelly-roll adhered with the seal tape; expanding the thickness of the seal tape while impregnating the seal tape into the electrolyte by injecting the electrolyte inside the cylindrical can to closely adhere with the inside of the can; and sealing the cylindrical can.
