PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of achieving stabilization and uniformization of image density without using a high-accuracy member or a high-strength member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is constituted so that at least three test pattern detection means 30 for detecting density of a predetermined test pattern formed as a visible image on an image carrier 2 are arranged at different positions in a main scanning direction, and a rotating position detection means for detecting the rotating position of the image carrier 2 is included, wherein exposure intensity by an exposure means 7 is controlled based on the density of the test pattern detected by the respective test pattern detection means 30 and the rotating position of the image carrier detected by the rotating position detection means.
