PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video microscope advantageous in terms of reduction of cost and miniaturization while observing a subject from various directions, and to provide an adapter for observation. SOLUTION: An imaging optical system 36 of an imaging apparatus 14 guides the image of a subject 2 to an image sensor 38 while turning an optical axis L to the subject 2 from the upside of a placing surface 30. An imaging apparatus supporting mechanism 16 supports the imaging apparatus 14 so as to rotate centering a rotation center axis X orthogonal to the placing surface 30. A first mirror 24 and a second mirror 26 are provided between the placing surface 30 and the imaging optical system 36, and form a bending optical path 46 for guiding the image of the subject 2 to the imaging optical system 36 by bending an optical path leading to the imaging optical system 36 from the subject 2, including the optical axis L of the imaging optical system 36 and extending on a single plane. A mirror supporting mechanism 28 supports the first and second mirrors 24 and 26 rotatably around the optical axis L of the imaging optical system 36. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
