PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of prohibiting access to the inside of an apparatus under environment that a user can not confirm a state of the apparatus to assure security of the user. SOLUTION: When a composite machine body detects detachment of an operation panel (S11:YES), a communication state is detected based on intensity of a signal transmitted from the operation panel (S14). As a result of detection of the communication state, whether or not communication with the operation panel becomes impossible is determined (S15), when the communication becomes impossible (S15:YES), an operation of the composite machine body is stopped (S16), a door and a paper feed cassette provided on the front surface of a printer unit are locked to prohibit opening (S17).
