PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of rising of an oil by suppressing pressure rise in an oil tank of a turbo compressor in stopping an operation of a turbo refrigerator. SOLUTION: This turbo refrigerator 1 is provided with: a turbo compressor 21 having the oil tank 36 for storing a lubricant; a suction volume control portion 46 controlling a volume of a refrigerant passing through the turbo compressor 21; and a pressure equalizer 48 for communicating a part between the suction volume control portion 46 and a compressing mechanism 12 of the turbo compressor 21 and the oil tank 36. This turbo refrigerator 1 is further provided with: a control portion 50 for controlling at least an operation of the turbo compressor 21 and an opening of the suction volume control portion 46.
