The illumination arrangement has a measuring device, a measuring signal and an illumination unit with regulated luminous intensity. The luminous intensity is supplied and controlled by a pulse modulated electrical power signal with a switch-off pulse duration and switch-on pulse duration. The luminous intensity of the illumination unit is adjusted by the switch-on or switch-off pulse duration depending on the measuring signal. The measuring device comprises a photo-sensitive section of the illumination unit for measuring the luminous intensity of the environment. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling the luminous intensity of an illumination unit of an illumination arrangement for a vehicle.
