<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire grid polarizing element with which sufficient color reproducibility and a black display are achieved when mounted on a display device such as a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The wire grid polarizing element includes a substrate 1 having grid-shaped protrusions 1a arranged thereon in parallel with one another with a prescribed distance between one another, light reflecting material wires 2 formed on the grid-shaped protrusions 1a and composed of a material to reflect object light, and light reflecting material wires 3 formed on the light reflecting material wires 2 and composed of a material to absorb object light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
