<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a static pressure gas bearing for a piston driving mechanism capable of precluding damage of a bearing sliding surface caused by impact in the radial direction. <P>SOLUTION: The piston driving mechanism 10 has a piston rod 12 and a housing exerting the function of cylinder and is structured so that end plates 24 and 26 in front and in the rear of the housing 20 support the front and rear ends of the piston rod 12 movably in the axial direction, and there the static pressure gas bearing 100 is installed. In this place with static pressure gas bearing 100, metal cylinders 18 and 19 for lubrication formed from a copper-based material are installed in consolidation with the piston rod 12.
