PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vehicle body side structure capable of effectively restraining deformation of a vehicle frame in front collision. SOLUTION: One end 62A of a tandem shaped load transmitting member 62 is fixed to a front end of a door inner panel 28 of a front side door 18. A rear end 62B of the load transmitting member 62 is opposed to a rear end face 30A of a pillar outer panel 30. Correspondingly, an opening 60 engageable with the other end 62B is formed on the rear end face 30A. Accordingly, when a front pillar 12 is rotated and displaced inside a compartment by a load F input by the front pillar 12 from an apron upper member 38 in front collision, the other end 62B of the load transmitting member 62 is pierced in the opening 60 formed on the rear end face 30A of the pillar outer panel 30, so as to restrain rotary displacement. Accordingly, a moment M1 for curving the front side door 18 is reduced, thereby, an axial force N is increased to transmit the load backward. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
