PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of highly accurately correcting distortion, in a time-base direction, of a moving image caused by intercepting or resuming fetching repeatedly. SOLUTION: A plurality of still images forming a moving image are fetched in a designated term (=1/30 sec) through a motion picture fetching process. Each time a still picture recording operation is performed on a key input device 44, the motion picture fetching process is temporarily intercepted. Still images as many as a designated frame number are inserted into an image missed portion corresponding to a period during which the motion picture fetching process is intercepted. At such a time, a CPU 42 divides a numerical value indicating the interception period of the motion picture fetching process with a numerical value indicating the designated term. Furthermore, the CPU 42 determines an integral portion of an addition value, obtained by adding a correction value on a register 42r to a divided value obtained by the dividing process, as the designated frame number. Moreover, the CPU 42 updates the correction value on the register 42r with a fractional portion of the divided value after the determination process of the designated frame number.
