The center (1) has a machining unit (13) for machining of workpieces (2) from wood or similar materials. A locating unit (25) is provided for partially surrounding a working area (26) of the center. A tool magazine (19) is arranged within the locating unit to accommodate tools (22), which are used by the machining unit. A shifting unit (31) is provided for shifting of another tool (21) between the working area and an area (28) outside of the locating unit. An additional shifting unit is provided for shifting of the tool (21) between the shifting unit and the tool magazine. An independent claim is also included for a method for load/unloading of a tool magazine of a machining center.
