PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of highly efficiently performing image processing.

SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus divides one pixel into three pixels by converting an input image (pixels (1)-(7)) into high resolution in a main scanning direction. The three pixels after resolution conversion are processed by three binarization processing circuits. A pulse width is determined based on the number of pixels which have been turned ON by binarization processing and a pulse phase is determined based on the positions of pixels which have been turned ON. Thus, PWM control is executed.
