PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high grade artificial leather substrate using an ultrafine fiber of 0.01-0.10 dtex fineness and provided by monolithically interlacing the fiber on a knit substrate, especially an artificial leather substrate causing no pattern kink on the surface. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for production of an artificial leather substrate provided by monolithically laminating a knit substrate and a web comprising ultrafine fiber. A paper-making web comprising the ultrafine fiber having 0.01-0.1 dtex fineness and 1.5-3.5 mm cut length and of 10-25 g/m<SP>2</SP>basis weight is formed on the surface of the knit substrate by a wet paper making method, laminated and integrated to form a raw material sheet.
