PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a center pillar for a vehicle capable of suppressing generation of concentration of stress on an opening part of an inner panel and generation of crack associated therewith at side collision of the vehicle. SOLUTION: The center pillar 2 is constituted by an outer panel and the inner panel 22, and the opening part 3 for arranging a retractor is provided on a lower part of the inner panel 22. Among corner parts existing on the opening part 3, on the midway of the corner part (rear upper corner part 35) where concentration of stress is most frequently generated at side surface collision of the vehicle, a stress dispersion linear part 351 of approximately linear shape having smaller curvature than both sides (first connection part 352 and second connection part 353) is provided.
