PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a constant velocity joint and a constant velocity joint outer ring capable of reducing the man-hour by reducing post-processing after the forging process, improving the yield, reducing the manufacturing costs, and easily obtaining strength such as torsional strength of the constant velocity joint outer ring. SOLUTION: The outer ring 1 is not composed of carburized steel, etc., but especially carbon steel for machine structural use. The whole inner surface of a cup portion 1a containing a track groove 3, an inner diameter spherical surface 2a, a cup inlet chamfer 11, a track chamfer 12 and a track inlet chamfer 13 of the outer ring 1 is finished by cold forging, and the outer surface of the cup portion 1a except for a booth groove is finished by cold forging.
