In one aspect, the invention relates to powdered, protein-rich comestibles and methods for producing same. Disclosed are powdered, protein-rich comestibles having a protein content of at least about 65%, a moisture content of less than about 5%, and a lipid content of less than about 10%, wherein the powder has an average particle size of less than about 65 µm. In one aspect, comestibles can be derived from fish sources. Also disclosed are methods for producing powdered, protein-rich comestibles by isolating soluble proteins from a mixture of water and comminuted raw fish product and drying the isolate to a powder. |
