FIELD: physics; link. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention concerns coding with set of speeds, more concretely, to speech coding with set of speeds for communication systems. According to a version of realisation of the invention the way of multi-speed coding in a communication system is provided. The way includes a stage of support of the codec with a set of customised parametres for usage at a choice of modes of the codec. Each set of settings provides some average bit speed. The preset value of bit speed for coding of a signal by the codec is accepted, and this target value of bit speed has some value between the minimum and maximum average bit speed of the codec. Then the coding mode is selected on the basis of target value of bit speed and sets of settings, and the signal is encoded by means of usage of the selected mode of coding. Also the multihigh-speed codec containing the selector for a choice of a mode of coding from a set of modes of coding on the basis of target value of bit speed is provided. ^ EFFECT: improvement of speech quality at the expense of coding with variable speed as a result of more effective coding. ^ 24 cl, 5 dwg |
