PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a step motor for a watch, which can be enhanced in efficiency to generate high torque, normally driven with low power consumption and manufactured easily. SOLUTION: The step motor for a watch is equipped with first and second stators 1 and 2 including: soft magnetic yokes 11, 21 with rotor holes 11a, 21a through which one rotor 3 comprising permanent magnets are rotatably inserted; and coils 12 and 22. The two stators are demagnetized and stacked in the axial direction while aligning the rotor holes 11a and 21a with the rotor 3. The first stator 1 includes a function of applying driving torque to the rotor 3 and a function of deciding the rotary direction of the rotor 3 and applying holding torque to the rotor for stabilizing the position of the rotor 3 when the coil 3 is not energized.
